One of the sights I eagerly anticipate all winter long is a carpet of Trilliums
in the forest in Spring. The Trillium is Ontario's provincial floral emblem,
and is a protected species. It is forbidden to pick them, since doing so
kills the plant. There are several varieties of Trillium, the most common
being the white.
