Icefall
Medium: Transparent Watercolour
Image Size: 12" x 20"
Near Go Home Lake in Muskoka, there used to be a wetland (since drained to make
way for the new highway). Water would seep down through the rocks, creating
the most wonderful icefalls in winter. Below the icefall, you could often
find tracks of rabbits and hares, foxes, mice and voles, squirrels and birds
imprinted on the snow. The ice can be a lovely soft blue-green colour,
although it can pick up colours from the stone beneath, particularly if the rock
has iron in it.
This piece was sold before I had a chance to have it scanned, but I've had so
many requests for prints of it, that I will probably paint another one in a similar
style in the near future.
