In the 1980's I worked in a computer
graphics shop in Toronto. I learned to love the whole concept
of computer-generated imagery (CGI), and when I had
an opportunity to learn Photoshop, I took it. Since
then, I've been having a wonderful time creating new
images and playing with the medium. "Beat the
Heat" was an image I came up with for an on-line challenge
in a forum for digital artists.
The toad is one that I found at a friend's farm. It
was a very hot day, and when I picked him up, he lay
very quietly on his back in my hand, so
large that he didn't quite fit. I took several
shots and then released him in a nice shady spot under
a bush. This image is the result of our chance
meeting on a hot summer day.
