Though I don't often do portraiture, occasionally I'll see a face that really appeals to me.  This is one I came across in an old National Geographic magazine one time and wanted to try to capture the strength of personality.  Since it was done some years ago, many people have asked if it was a portrait of my father.  I hadn't noticed at the time, but there is indeed a strong resemblance, but with one difference.  My father wouldn't be caught wearing a cowboy hat if his life depended on it!
